Magnetic Resonance Tomography - MRI

Over the years MRI has been rapidly developing and reshaping the Diagnostic community with good quality in medical investigation. There is no Radiation i.e X-Ray is not used in MRI, instead a strong magnetic field and radio waves are used to study the tissues and organs in detail.

Open MRI is a creation for claustrophobic , Obese , Pediatric , and other physically challenged patients. With maximum exposure patients are inclined to be communicative and stress free from the traditional box-shaped MRI

Computed Tomography - CT

CT is an X-ray method which provides very detailed images of the body organs. Detection of injuries and illness is easy while there are some potential risks. We take pride using the advanced technology which has reduced risks.

With the Multi-slice CT, there is an added advantage of performing the study in shorter time period due to its ability of scanning multiple locations.

A CT Study Usually takes 5-30 mins depending on the medical investigation. Critical knowledge of taking a CT scan is the patients responsibility.

Brain Imaging

Brain is complex and critical part in a body which has many soft tissues which are hard to distinguish. MRI gives detailed images to detect tumours, brain injury or other anomalies. A CT shows the internal injuries and bleeding in emergencies.

Whole Spine, Neck and Chest

A study on the Spine can be doen with or with out contrast. Both MRI and CT provide information regarding the sturcture of bones, vertebre, disks andd spinal cord with spaces in between where the nerves pass. Tumors , cancer injuries, infections, multiple sclerosis, stroke or diseases in the chest can be detected at early stages using MRI and during emergencies by a CT.

Abdomen, Pelvis, Knee and All Joints

An MRI of these organs can detect cancer and adress important observations while a CT can show signs of inflammation, internal injuries or diseases of the liver, spleen kidneys , bladdder , stomach, intestines and pancreas. Blood vessels and lymph nodes are also scanned in these investigations.

Angiography, Venography and Diffusion Studies

An indepth investigation into the blood vessels in brain, neck, heart, lung , kidney and legs is known as angiography while the study on veins and internal structures is venogrpahy. A diffusion study aims at tracing bacteria, celular debris and other cells .

Contrast Studies

Contrast is a special dye which is used highlight the areas of your body under examination. The contrast material block the x-ray and makes the parts of the image whiter which distinguish blood vessels, intestines or other structures.

  • Certain conditions of the patients are to be infromed to our staff for better results.
  • Few of them are :
  • Contraindication: Metal objects that are magnetic can change location and generate heat locally in conjunction with MRI examination.
  • Claustrophobia: Patients with severe claustrophobia may have difficulty undergoing the examination. Stesolid can be offered to these patients and then administered by us just before the examination.
  • S-creatinine: All patients who will perform MRI examination with contrast should always have the current value of kidney function (eGFR) s-creatinine. All patients> 65 years of age and / or with renal impairment and diabetes mellitus have an increased risk of contracting side effects.
  • Pregnancy : Women between the ages of 15-50 should always be asked about pregnancy before MRI examinations. If the woman is pregnant, the examination, if medically advisable, should be postponed until after delivery. Magnetic fields have not shown harmful effects on fetuses or young children but should be avoided unless it provides very important information.

  • Before you attend for a CT , Certain conditions of the patients are to be infromed to our staff for better results.
  • Contrast: Iodine contrast agent is used in studies to better visualize tissues. Contrast agents are given intravenously and / or orally and prescribed by the radiologist when prioritizing.Iodine contrast can rarely cause allergic reactions. It is common for the patient to experience a heat sensation in the body when injecting contrast media which is transient and harmless.
  • Fasting:Some CT examinations require you to fast before. You will then be notified of this in your notice. In other studies, we inject a contrast fluid into the blood. The purpose of this is to see possible disease processes more clearly.
  • Radiation protection: Any allegries or illness which are reactive to radiation should be informed and preventive measures should be taken.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding : Women between the ages of 15-50 should always be asked about pregnancy before X-rays in the abdominal region. If the woman is pregnant, the examination, if medically advisable, should be postponed until after delivery. At the times when an examination must be performed, an individual assessment must be made to optimize the examination , ie reduce the radiation dose as much as possible.
